Thiruvilliputtur (Sri Villiputhoor) - Andal Idols

 There are a total of five sculpted idols of Andal in Srivilliputhur.


#Soodikoduthar(சூடிக்கொடுத்தார்):

The idol located in the sanctum sanctorum is known as 'Soodikoduthar'. It is made of stucco, a material referred to as 'Padachasanam'. #Thirumallivalanadi(திருமல்லிவளநாடி):

The name 'Thirumallivalanadi' is given to this silver idol, which is the 'Kauthuka Beram'(Idol used for daily worship). Note that, Thirumallinadu is an epithet for Srivilliputhur.


Puduvaiyandal(புதுவையாண்டாள்):

This idol, made of copper, serves as the *Snana* or *Snapana Berar* (the deity for ritual bathing). It is known as 'Puduvaiyandal'. #Veethi-Kandarulvar(வீதிகண்டருள்வார்):

This is the *Utsava Berar* (processional deity) brought out during festival times; it is referred to as 'Thiruppavai Padinar' (The One Who Sang the *Thiruppavai*). #Veyar-Payantha-Vilakku(வேயர்பயந்தவிளக்கு:

The *Nithyotsavar* (deity for daily processions) who circumambulates the temple precincts for the daily *Bali* (ritual offering/worship) is known as 'Veyar-Payantha-Vilakku'.

Journey to the 108 Divya Desam Temples of Maha Vishnu

There are countless temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu across the world and especially India. Each temple has its own distinct legend, deity, and history, making them an integral part of the religious and cultural heritage of the subcontinent.  Alvar, a group of South Indian saints who from the 7th to the 10th century wandered from temple to temple singing ecstatic hymns in adoration of the god Vishnu which is called Magalaasaasanam.
